Jake Wimberley's License Plates
So far, two states have laid claim to a 400th anniversary of some sort, at least for the benefit of vehicle licensing. Florida celebrated the anniversary of the founding of St Augustine in 1565. Next, to date, Virginia remembered the start of Jamestown in 1607. I suppose Massachusetts might be next, celebrating Plymouth Colony in 2020. And we can all eagerly anticipate Hawaii's special 2359 issue.
These plates are small potatoes. Newfoundland issued license plates in the late 1990s celebrating the 500th anniversary of the explorer John Cabot's 1497 landing there.
